My friends and chasing 1 of my dogs can? do this well, but the other 3 dogs are no traces (young people are the tip). Pu? or being trained? everything else just lucky unlike me? I live in an apartment with un'iarda pleasant side (without the fence). It 'd also? pleasant to take my 3 other dogs to the park one day to play the scale. My dog in a trust? a dachshund / dog hare, other 's? a mixture of collie on board. terrier of the mini Dachshund dog and rabbit / rat mixes.

Years of being alive and trusting you. Also a perfessional, check your local pet stores for pet training programs.
Hounds are known to roam, especially scenthounds, so I really wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re going to try it, do it in a fenced in area first and see how well the dog listens to your commands. Every dog is different. I had a beagle that I let off the leash one time and he took off, it took me an hour to find him and I was worried out of my mind. I had a lab who would stick right next to me the whole time, with or without a leash!
my dog can do that as well. when walking your dog dont let them know that you let go of the leash. keep eye contact with them and use short words like “hey” or “easy” when they get out of hand. once you pick up the leash tell them to sit and stay and slowly walk away for then they know that you are away from them. then praise them and do it all over. this method will need to be used multiple times.
good luck
It’s all about training. The more you train your dogs the better behaved it will be. Dogs do not train themselves, you have to do it.
i advise you google “loose leash walking.” the more reputable explanations will emphasize that you first teach the dog to walk beside you perfectly as though he were on a leash, but enjoying it, since that’s all loose leash walking is — with a leash just in case.
but depending on your dog, he might need some pretty hard training to really FOCUS on you, or he might take off. loose leash walking might be a pain to learn, but it sure will pay off!!
Taking your dog through obedience classes and not just the basic but continuing to more advance classes. Eventually, with work, trials, and plenty of training, most dogs’ can reach the level of obedience to walk off lead with you but it takes your dedication and time with the dog to make it happen.
Really to get it you hae to work and work with your dog. Go to a park or field and make sure you have a fairly long leash then let your dog roam but when he gets to far call him or say “back” and give a small tug on the leash. And hounds have been known to roam. But never ever let your dog offleash by traffic or when you are not watching him! My dog is very very good about being off leash (unless he sees a squirrel LOL) But one time i was playing with him when he darted in front of a car and nearly got hit!

I would be careful with any hound breed, they tend to follow their noses and not come back when they’re called.
In general, you have to teach the dog to heel on a leash before you teach them without a leash. Try enlisting the help of a professional dog trainer.
